All roads lead to Como
The Cross Cultural Como project highlights Como's global connections, especially through its silk industry, and deepens understanding of the city's cultural roots. It encourages visitors to independently explore the museum's heritage, uncovering Como’s influence on and exchanges with the world, fostering a sense of discovery and appreciation for its global significance.
The project features an app and an interactive horizontal panel located at the museum entrance. Through the app’s map, users can track the next objects to be unlocked as they explore the museum. By scanning these objects with their phone’s camera, they unlock the stories behind how each piece arrived in Como. Once unlocked, users can revisit these stories anytime within the app.
On the other hand, the horizontal panel at the entrance of the museum allows users to connect various parts of the world to Como, exploring how they have shaped the city's history through engaging stories and visuals.
Interaction to engage
This interactive experience enhances the museum visit by providing users with deeper insights into the historical and cultural context of the objects on display, addressing the current challenge of making these connections clear. Through Cross Cultural Como, users are actively engaged and can better understand how Como's history is intertwined with the rest of the world.
Both in the app and on the horizontal screen, users are guided by Spun, a digital museum guide. By selecting a country they’re interested in, Spun generates relevant stories and multimedia content, highlighting its historical connection to Como. Additionally, Spun quantifies the strength of each country's connection to the city, encouraging users to explore, compare, and interact with these global ties.
